We are looking for a Product Owner

As a Product Owner at Whitespace you’ll join our Product Management team and work closely with our QA testers, Developers, Product Managers and Account Managers to manage the roadmap and delivery of our clients' digital products. 

You will be working across a range of different web products produced for our broad range of clients, who include the National Trust for Scotland, RAC, Glasgow Film Theatre, Royal Academy of Music, Visit Scotland, Mary's Meals, and the Scottish Government.

We’d love to have you come work with us in our beautiful Edinburgh office (when we are able to return), but we’d also consider filling the position either partially, or fully via remote working if you're based in the UK.

About you

You should thrive on facilitating cooperation between people with different skills. You may have a background that includes development work, as you’ll be required to understand how much effort different development tasks require. You should be as confident speaking to developers and highly technical matters as you are speaking to clients, as you will be the main the communication point between the development team and our client-facing teams. You should have experience helping teammates stay on schedule and meeting deadlines. 


  • Translate user problems and requirements into tasks and support the User Experience designers’ work. 
  • Support the development team by prioritising the product backlog and creating user stories.
  • Serve as an internal project expert for the development teams, answering questions and clarifying requirements.
  • Participate in gathering requirements exercises and documenting detailed user requirements.
  • Participate in daily standups and manage sprints.
  • Identify potential problems related to scope or resource.
  • Work with the development teams to plan sprints, as well as estimate time and effort required to complete projects.
  • Work with UX and design teams to define detailed requirements and make sure the scope is achievable within the budget and timeframe.

Skills Required

  • Organised and efficient 
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication 
  • Experience in a role that shares the responsibilities above, or as a Scrum Product Owner, Agile Business Analyst or similar. 
  • Experience delivering websites
  • Experience working with both in-house and external development teams. 
  • Experience working in a fast paced, agile environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable discussing technical, marketing and business issues with various stakeholders in the business and externally.
