The brief

As part of the Winter festivals programme for we were asked to celebrate the cultural legacy of Robert Burns on Modern Scotland.

The insight

Robert Burns steadfastly wrote in Scots as he believed the language was the pulsing heart of normal everyday people. This gave confidence to Scottish artists to express themselves and this still inspires creativity in Scots over 200 years on.

The idea

We asked Scottish lettering artist Craig Black to work with us to create a tribute to Robert Burns to inspire modern Scots (and beyond). We called in the help of young designers from Edinburgh College, and the final piece was installed in Glasgow's cultural hub SWG3, which houses artists, designers, musicians, entrepreneurs, and an energetic music scene.
