Your mum was right about breakfast, it sets you right up for your day. With spurtles at the ready, we participated in World Porridge Day on the 10th of October in support of Mary’s Meals.
Mary’s Meals provides daily meals to more than 1.1 million of the world’s poorest children who attend school, and their aim is that every child will receive a meal in their school every day. Mary’s Meals' largest feeding programme is in Malawi, where children receive a mug of maize porridge (likuni phala).
World Porridge Day celebrates and supports the enormous difference this mug of porridge makes to the lives of chronically hungry children. We were smiles all round, as you can see from our pictures, whether savoury or sweet, with berries or golden syrup or a traditional Scottish pinch of salt. We raised enough money through our porridge donation to feed five children every school day for a year- go Whitespacers!
